Delhi police on Monday said they wanted clarification on Twitter about a tweet leaked by Baratiya Janata Party's (BJP) spokesman Sambit Patra about a toolkit allegedly released by the Congress party that the micorblogging site was marked as "Manipulated media."
Delhi police on Monday evening visited the South Delhi offices in Lado Sarai and Golf Course Road in Gurugram. A police team from the Lodhi Colony special cell visited the offices to confirm the involvement of Twitter's managing director Manish Maheshwari as part of the investigation.
“The person(Manish Maheshwari) who had to join investigation said he is not the concerned person. He sent a reply to the DCP of special cell that he was part of Twitter India and not Twitter Inc. Any tagging to that concerned tweet was done by Twitter Inc. Though his bio said he is the MD of Twitter in India. So we visited the Twitter office to summon the concerned and verify his claims. This is just a preliminary inquiry,” a senior police official stated in the statement.
A special city police cell was investigating a complaint lodged at the Tughlak Road police station and police station on May 18 by two Congress leaders, demanding the first information report (FIR) against some BJP leaders on allegations of "paper fraud, and counterfeit material on Twitter under Twitter." -hashtag of CongressToolkitExposed. Meanwhile, twitter flagged a Sambit Patra's tweet on Friday. Therefore, this type of prejudice behavior by the Twitter is really shows biasness on some account as they are meant to work for empowering voice of the mass, but here they are working against the values and etiquette of the free speech and writings.
