WhatsApp has a new chatbot aimed at helping the rapid COVID-19 vaccination process for senior citizens in India amid the coronavirus epidemic.

The Zero Fund volunteer organization Robin Hood Army on Wednesday launched a WhatsApp chatbot that connects seniors with volunteers to help with the vaccination process.

Chatbots can also be used by those who want to join the organization, share additional meals, or volunteer to help seniors with their COVI-19 vaccinations.

Senior citizens will have to send 'Hi' to WhatsApp on + 91-8971966164 and then reply to the corresponding message with '3' so that a volunteer can help them in the vaccination process.

It is important to note that the Robin Hood Army is currently serving only seniors who live alone.

Individuals may voluntarily work for the COVID-19 vaccination campaign or other humanitarian operations conducted by the organization by communicating through chatbots.

There is also an option to share surplus food with excesses.  The chatbot is developed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) firm Yellow Messenger.

Robin Hood Army founder Neil Ghosh said in a statement, "We are very excited to launch a #SeniorPatrol campaign on WhatsApp to help seniors get vaccinated."

"We believe this campaign will break the barriers to vaccination, especially among seniors, who can now easily ask for help through a simple message on WhatsApp."

Robin Hood Army volunteers are available in 186 cities in 21 states of India.  The #SeniorPatrol campaign was launched during an extended lockdown to help vulnerable seniors receive COVID-19 vaccines.

It is claimed to have helped thousands of senior citizens in 155 cities to register on the CoWIN portal and visit the vaccination center for their appointments.

Robin Hood Army is doing exemplary work and we are happy that they rely on WhatsApp to strengthen their volunteer network and take COVID relief efforts to more cities in India, ”said Abhijit Bose, Head, WhatsApp India  .
