Supreme Court of India puts stay on the Allahabad High Court order as the UP government moves to SC against the Allahabad High Court’s order to impose a weeklong lockdown in 5 districts of UP (Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, and Prayagraj) where the surge in Covid-19 cases witnessed.
Allahabad High Court reprimanded the Yogi government over the spike in Covid-19 and orders to impose a weeklong lockdown in 5 major districts where the high rate of positivity is recorded, refusing this order from the High court Yogi government moves to SC.
UP in the last several days witnessed a huge spike in the Covid-19 cases as the 28211 cases and 167 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. This spike in covid-19 cases in UP is attached to the impact of the second wave of the Virus. UP is continuously witnessing more than 20000 cases since the last week.
UP in the first wave of Corona-Virus presented a model toward the several states that how to tackle the Virus. According to health experts, UP constitutes the largest proportion of the population in the country that’s why their number of cases is not that high in respect of the population level, as a result, their positivity rate is not that high as compared to other states. They even believed that UP can control the Covid-19 by some strict (weekend curfew, night curfew, strict rules over mask, and regular sanitization) steps rather than imposing a lockdown.
UP government also imposed an Rs.1000 fine when caught the first time without a mask and if this happens at a second this fine increases to Rs.10000. By imposing these types of restrictions UP government seems poised to tackle these harsh circumstances.
Thus, the situation of the country is a bit tensed as the country records 259170 fresh cases and 1761 died in the last 24 hours. The strict rules from the government and nationalistic behavior from the people are very essential to stop this monstrous Covid-19 surge, if the people of the nation will not participate in this campaign to live and let others live we will not succeed in this crusade.
