Flipkart, one of India's largest commerce firms, has entered into a strategic and commercial partnership with Gujarat-based Adani Group for logistics and data centre related businesses support.
In this partnership, Flipkart will work with Adani group Adani Logistics Ltd to strengthen Flipkart's delivery chain infrastructure and improve its customer service capabilities.
“Local commerce giant Flipkart is the new partner of our strategy. In a two-prong partnership, AdaniConneX will build their new Tier 4 data center and Adani Logistics, Indias leader in logistics, will build their 534,000 sqft. Thousands of new jobs in Mumbai, ”billionaire Gautam Adani wrote on Twitter, announcing the deal.
As per the agreement, a new fulfillment center will be opened at 5.34 lakh sq. Ft.
In addition, Flipkart will establish its third data center at AdaniConneX Private Limited, its Chennai-based center, using AdaniConneX technology and data center technology solutions.
AdaniConnex Pvt Ltd is a new Joint Venture recently established between EdgeConneX and Adani Enterprises Limited.
“As part of this partnership, Adani Logistics Limited will build a large facility to achieve 534,000 sq. Km. to a few thousand vendors and MSMEs in the region, ”according to a joint press release.
The facility is expected to operate in the third quarter of 2022 and will have the capacity to build 10 million units at retail stores.
In addition to strengthening Flipkart's procurement infrastructure, the company expects the center to improve local employment and create 2,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs.
Another joint venture will see Flipkart upgrade its third-party data center at the AdaniConnecX Chennai as part of the largest cloud deployments in the country, thus strengthening its e-commerce business in India.
"AdaniConneX data center is a brand new facility that allows Flipkart to design a data center for its growing needs with a security-focused and data-intensive infrastructure within India," the statement said.
