The West Bengal election marks their second last step towards the results as the 7th phase of polling held in West Bengal amid the Pandemic. In these harsh circumstances, many people approach the polling stations and the voting turnout is recorded 75.06% till 5:30 pm. The voting takes place on the 34 constituencies and around 8.6 million people voted to decide the fate of 284 candidates.
The emergence of the second wave of pandemic results in
halts in the election campaigning. The majority of the campaigning for the
elections takes place through virtual rallies and social media platforms.
CM Mamta Banerjee cast her vote at Bhabanipur
constituency and targeted the BJP over the malfunctioning in the vaccination
drive and said the PM should do “Covid ki Baat” rather than doing “Mann Ki
Baat”. Mamta Banerjee also showed a victory sign before leaving the polling
station. Abhishek Bannerjee, Mamta's nephew also cast his vote.
On the other hand, carrying the campaigning forward BJP
president JP Nadda targeted Mamta Banerjee and said that Mamta is misleading
the people over the Covid-19 vaccination whereas the BJP leader Amit Malviya
targeted the CM over clean drinking water said CM failed to provide the clean
drinking water.
Amid the pandemic, PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah
canceled several virtual rallies due to the busy schedule in dealing with
Covid-19.
Therefore, due to the wake of the pandemic, several
parties decided to make their way parted from the rallies and on-field
campaigning. The election campaigning has taken a new shape as the campaigning
has started through virtual and online means.
