Delhi’s Shri Gangaram Hospital witnessed 25 severely affected patients of the virus died in the last 24 hours whereas 60 patients are still critical.
The incident happens due to the ventilators, the Bipap
which are not working efficiently, and oxygen deficiency is also recorded as
one of the major causes of the incident. The hospital also reported to the
Delhi government about the deficiency of the oxygen but, the oxygen cylinders
reach 2 hours later as the situation of the patients was already very critical
but it gets worsened due to the constraints in the path of oxygen supply.
The Hospital said that the oxygen needs to be airlifted
to save lives but due lack of interaction and contradictory behavior between
the officers caused this incident to happen. Medical Director Satendra Katoch
said that the “low oxygen concentration likely to cause the death of the
critical patients as the critical patients needs high pressure and stable
oxygen supply”.
The hospital Chairman D.S. Rana said in his statement
that this is the highest number of deaths in the last 24 hours in the hospital.
On oxygen shortage, PM Modi conducted a virtual meet with
the 10 Chief Minister of severely affected states which also includes Delhi CM
Kejriwal. CM Kejriwal in the meeting appealed to the Centre led by PM Modi to
talk to those Chief Minister of states who are creating hindrance in the path
of oxygen supply to Delhi.
In the last 24 hours, Delhi recorded 26169 fresh Covid-19
cases and 306 deceased.
Therefore, these type of incidents indicates that the
health infrastructure is needed to be elevated as the lack of resources cause
lots of trouble to the patients and even this can cause death as we have seen
above. In these harsh circumstances, the parties need to be beyond politics and
must work for the nation and its people collectively.
