Instagram DOWN: Social Media App Crashes, Users Frustrated Around The World

#Instagramdown Trends number one around the globe as the tech and social media giant Instagram seems to have crashed this afternoon 30th march.


According to DownDetector, the issues started at 15:08 BST (10:08 AM EDT), and affected users around the world. Although the cause of the power outage is not yet clear, for those who report problems, 60 percent said they had problems with news feeds, 22 percent could not log in and 16 percent struggled with the website.

Instagram is yet to comment on the power outage which appears to be the third to be addressed in March alone.

Another user in India posted a clip of themselves trying to download an Instagram app on their smartphone before hitting and returning the user to the homepage.


Someone wrote on Twitter: 'What's going on and on instagram it's still standing.'

Others posted a pop-up warning screenshot saying 'Instagram is still standing' and were given the opportunity to close the app or send a reply.

DownDetector, an independent website for error monitoring, wrote on Twitter after 3pm on Tuesday: 'User reports indicate that Instagram has problems since 10:08 AM EDT.'

Downdetector includes reports from many sources, including Twitter and reports posted on websites and mobile applications.

Its website shows that Instagram closure reports began to rise just before 15:00 BST, reaching a peak of 1,409 at 15:19 BST.

The Instagram exit has become a regular event - it was only on Friday when the app was down in the world for over an hour.The crisis has hit many major US cities including New York, Seattle and San Francisco, and others around the world, such as the UK, China and Australia.

And on March 19, a week before that, all three major Facebook apps - Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp - were down.Users who visit Instagram online have been shown a simple error message '5xx Server Error', with no other information provided.

Some Facebook users have been able to sign in to the app, although 63 percent of reports on DownDetector.com have suggested a 'complete shutdown'. At the time, a Facebook spokesman told Business Insider: 'Earlier today, a technology crisis caused people to have difficulty accessing certain Facebook services. 
'We have resolved this issue with everyone, and we apologize for any inconvenience.'
