It needs to align the interests of all, both within and outside the country, ”Mr Jaishankar told a conference attended by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and others.

Speaking on "grave concern" about the violence and bloodshed in Afghanistan, India on Tuesday called for "double peace" in the war-torn country and called on the parties to negotiate honestly, with great determination. commitment to achieving a political solution.

Speaking at the 9th Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference in Dushanbe in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, Foreign Minister Jaishankar also said India supported all efforts to speed up negotiations between the Afghan and Taliban governments, including the intra-Afghan. conversations.

“For lasting peace in Afghanistan, we need real‘ double peace ’, that is, peace within Afghanistan and peace around Afghanistan. It needs to align the interests of all, both within and outside the country, ”Mr Jaishankar told a conference attended by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and others.

Mr Jaishankar said that if the peace process was to succeed, it would be necessary to ensure that the negotiating parties continued to engage with the faithful, with greater commitment to achieving a political solution.

Noting that what is happening in Afghanistan will definitely affect the larger region, he said the stakes in the negotiations may be high, but the consequences are not so significant.

“A stable, independent and peaceful Afghanistan is the foundation of peace and prosperity in our region. Therefore, ensuring that there is no terrorism, violence and drug and criminal organizations, is a joint venture, ”he said.

"Today, we are fighting for an inclusive Afghanistan that can overcome decades of conflict. However, that will only happen if we remain loyal to the long-suffering principles of Asia. Succeeding together may not be easy but one way is joint failure, ”he said.

The Taliban government and the Afghan government are holding a series of talks to end the 19-year-old war that killed tens of thousands of people and destroyed parts of the country.

In February 2020, the United States signed a landmark agreement with the Taliban, setting a deadline for the complete withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan for 14 months. However, despite an agreement and ongoing talks between Afghanistan, violence has escalated in the country over the past month.

Mr Jaishankar said the situation in Afghanistan continued to cause "serious concern." Violence and bloodshed are daily occurrences and the conflict itself showed no signs of slowing down, no promises made, he said.

"The continued involvement of foreign fighters in Afghanistan is of great concern. Members of the Asian heart and the supportive countries must, therefore, prioritize the immediate reduction of violence that will lead to the end of the war, ”he said.

Afghanistan has repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting growing insurgency and violence in the country by providing safe havens for terrorists.

He said India has welcomed any move to a truly political solution and a complete and lasting firefight in Afghanistan. "We appreciate the international recognition of the basic principles that will determine their lines," he added.

"India supports a regional process that will be integrated under the auspices of the United Nations," he said, adding that the UN administration would help to consider all relevant UN decisions and improve the chances of a lasting outcome.

Mr Jaishankar said a significant advantage over the past two decades in Afghanistan was a democratic framework in which elections were held under universal suffrage.

"So is Afghanistan's monarchy in domestic and foreign policies and the protection of the rights of women, children and children and that all citizens of Afghanistan can live freely and without fear. These achievements must be protected and built on, as Afghanistan moves forward, ”he said.

India, a major contributor to the peace and stability of Afghanistan, has been a supporter of the Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process, led by Afghan and Afghanistan.

"India remains committed to supporting Afghanistan during this transition. Our $ 3 billion development partnership, including more than 550 Community Development Projects covering all 34 provinces, aims to make Afghanistan a viable nation. The promise of more water for Kabul is the latest on the list, ”said Mr Jaishankar.

He said as a leading CBM trade, trade and investment hub under HoA-IP, India would continue to work to improve Afghanistan's foreign relations.

"Operations such as Chahhabar Port in Iran and the Air Freight Corridor dedicated between the cities of India and Afghanistan are part of our efforts," he added.

Located in the province of Afghanistan-Balochistan on the rich southern coast of Iran, a strategic port was built by India, Iran and Afghanistan to increase trade ties.

Last week, Mr Jaishankar said India would like to see a more democratic and inclusive Afghanistan taking into account the interests of a few of its members.

The Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process (HoA-IP) is part of the Istanbul Process - a regional initiative for the security and cooperation of a stable and peaceful Afghanistan - launched on November 2, 2011 in Turkey.
